I found a very broken down dresser at a Habitat Restore and on a whim, decided to buy it with the intention of refurbing and selling it. Unfortunately I didn't get any photos of it in the original state, but it was rough. Several panels were loose; all the drawers were basically dysfunctional; the top was split in three and warped and I could barely tell what wood it was because of the thick layer of gunk all over it. Based on the construction and wear, my guess is that it was late victorian. I had no idea it was solid walnut! Every single piece was rebuilt with minimal use of new materials. I removed most all of the filigree to create a simpler and humble, yet very stunning piece.
Once it was finished, everyone told me I'd be crazy to sell it. So now its my bedroom dresser.
